Background
ContextEfficient power transmission requires accurate mapping of ground infrastructure. Traditional surveys were time-consuming, fragmented, and lacked real-time visibility. To address this, a large-scale GIS-enabled mobile and web solution was deployed for field surveys across rural and urban regions.
Solution
ApproachWe implemented a mobile-based real-time GIS mapping application that allowed surveyors to:
- Draw lines, polygons, and map objects directly from the field.
- Collect and upload real-time spatial and attribute data to a central web dashboard.
- Modify, merge, or extend maps collaboratively to form comprehensive transmission line maps.
- Enable task-based survey management with two-way communication between field staff and supervisors.
